Career Opportunities

Vitruvian Fitness® is always seeking to connect with like-minded career-oriented fitness professionals. Below is a list of our current opportunities.

Certified Personal Trainer

Vitruvian Fitness is a personal training studio in Wheat Ridge, CO. We teach busy adults how to move better, get stronger, and feel great in about 2-3 hours per week.

We opened in 2010 in the Highlands neighborhood of north Denver where we built a thriving community before relocating to Wheat Ridge in 2015.

Our Clients Are Adult Participants in the Game of Life

The average age of a Vitruvian Fitness client is 50 years old – some are in their 70s and a few in their 20s. Two thirds of our clients are women.

Moving better, getting stronger, overcoming life’s obstacles, improving lifespan and health-span are among their top objectives. Our functional exercise programming is rooted in its purpose and applicability to real life. By comparison, it is distinctly not bodybuilding, powerlifting, or high intensity CrossFit-style workouts-of-the-day.

We are seeking a career-oriented fitness professional to join our team to expand our ability to provide world-class training for our members. This position is for early morning shifts and weekends starting as early as 5am depending on the day of the week. Total hours each week will be between approximately 14-25 hours per week.

About You

You have at least 2 years of personal training experience or a combination of experiences and attributes outlined below. You can demonstrate a track record of teamwork, high-touch customer service, strong client results, and relentless continuous learning.

The Certified Functional Strength Coach certification (CFSC) is our preferred but were open to others.

Personal Attributes: a great candidate for this position will embody many of these characteristics and experiences.

  • You have experience teaching students in a classroom environment. Define that as loosely or as tightly as you like – personal trainers are teachers, and the heart of a teacher is a beautiful thing.
  • You have front-line experience in hospitality organizations. The customer service and multi-tasking skills necessary to thrive in hospitality are also of high value.
  • You are an enthusiastic learner of new ideas, concepts, and skills compounding daily to increase the value and interest you bring to others’ lives.
  • You can make deep personal connections with mature adults – many of whom are busy parents and have professional careers.
  • You are clean and neat with a professional appearance and demeanor.
  • You are open to receiving constructive coaching.
  • You are an effective communicator who can verbalize simple or complex concepts and ideas in simple language that our clients can understand.
  • You are flexible and accommodating with the willingness to adjust your approach as needed for different learning styles.
  • You have high situational awareness of your environment and the people in it so you can use that awareness to create an even better environment.

Experience
  • 2 or more years of experience as a personal trainer certified by an accredited organization. Or a combination of professional experiences that align well with our mission. (You will need to become certified before training clients solo.)
  • The Certified Functional Strength Coach is our preferred certification as it most closely tracks with our training style and philosophy. Other certifications will be considered depending on actual work experience.
  • Documented continuing education since getting initial certification.
  • Experience coaching adults with injuries, chronic disease, or chronic pain is a plus.
  • FMS, TRX, Kettlebells, FRC, Indian Clubs, peri-natal specialties, Functional Aging Institute, or other peripheral certifications/experience is a bonus.
  • Experience leading groups of 5 people or more is a bonus.

Roles and Responsibilities

We practice a training system called Semi-Private Personal Training. This is a system that individualizes the programming for each member as if it were one-on-one training, but each session has up to 5 trainees for each trainer.

Your role is to teach, coach, and lead each person through each session. You’ll provide instruction, encouragement, praise, take notes, and offer feedback.

Approximately 80% of your shift is in the delivery of fitness coaching with the remaining 20% being preparation and follow up. Organizational excellence is very important.

Software Experience

Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheets is required. You are also a proficient and regular user of email. Video conferencing programs like Zoom are well within your ability to use and or learn.

You will be posting content to social media regularly. So, you should have some fundamental skills in this area, as well. You should be able to send text messages and use a plain old telephone.

On The Job Training

Our training methods are very specific, structured, and systematized. Your first weeks will be spent learning how to coach at Vitruvian Fitness.

During the training period and for the duration of your employment, you will also perform other duties as assigned. Some of these will include customer service activities such as greeting and checking in members, scheduling appointments, and communicating with clients between sessions via email or text message – essentially anything that contributes to members having a positive experience in our studio. You will also help keep the studio well organized, tidy, and clean.

Our training programs are written by our senior training staff with the collaboration of the entire training team. Your role will be to coach the programs effectively, observe our clients’ performance and provide feedback to the senior trainers. This allows you to focus on the work and the relationships and not writing training programs for each client.

After you demonstrate you have the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities, you’ll begin coaching sessions on your own.

Our Organizational Values
  • Community – We promote a culture and space for our people to work on their own individual goals with the camaraderie and support of each other. And for this community to come together in other ways to pursue athletic, recreational, philanthropic, and/or social activities.
  • Fullness – Playful, Joyful, Grateful, Mindful, Thoughtful, Beautiful, Soulful, – All the things that make life fulfilling.
  • Strength – Embodying strength of mind, body, and character.
  • Functional Movement – Exercise rooted in purpose and applicability to real life.
  • Continuous Improvement – Perpetually striving to be better at something every day.
  • Education and Innovation – Constantly applying new methods and science to enhance our mission through continuing education and personal development.

Compensation

We pay an hourly wage for the time you are working on the floor, in meetings, and performing side duties plus additional compensation for each client session you coach. The range will be $15 to $30 per hour depending on experience and your training productivity each hour.

We reimburse up to $500 per year for relevant continuing education.

As an employee of a Colorado business, you also are entitled to the following statewide benefits.

Healthy Families and Workplace Act. You will accrue 1 hour of paid sick benefit for every 30 hours worked up to 48 hours annually. Accrued paid sick leave can be used for a wide range of health and safety needs. https://cdle.colorado.gov/dlss-home-page/paid-sick-leave-under-the-colorado-healthy-families-and-workplaces-act-hfwa
